Obesity implies to accumulation of excess of adipose tissue in various parts of body. one can gain weight at any age, increased weight increases the chances of hypertension, diabetes, and heart disease.BODY MASS INDEX (BMI) is the most accurate indicatoe of healthy weight.and is defined as persons’s weight (kg) divided by the square of person’s height (metres).normal: BMI is 18.5 to 23 kg/msquare,.overweight: 23.1 to29.9 kg/msquare, obesity:greater than 30 kg/ msquare, obese person has more than 20% of ideal body weight. Waist circumference >80 cm in females and > 90 cmin males indicate abdominal obesity.

HOW CAN YOU PREVENT FROM BEING OBESE?


1. EAT REGULARLY
: eating habits contribute 60% of the way we look.divide your meal into three divisions containing more protein, low carbohydrate, low fat.Do not skip the meal asitlowers your blood sugar level.never skip the breakfast as it is the most important meal of the day.eat only when hungry as hunger may not be alwaysurbody craving for food, it might just be thirst. carry ready to eat fruits like plum,apple,chiku with you when yo are at work.eat slowly as it takes minimum of 20minutesfor brain to register fullness so just because you are not feeling stuffed,does not mean you haven’t eaten to your body requirement.give the time to figure it out.go for light dinner,because at night,we tend to get sedentary and it becomes difficult for our body to digest extra calories. Cut down on your tea and coffee.have a cup of tea in the morning and coffee in the evening,in between if you feel like drinking tea go for herb tea.drink hot water(3 to 4 cups) daily.you can drink lukewarm or keep it as hot as tea depending on your choice.this will cleanse your system and also help you to get rid of waste material that otherwise has accumulated in your system.make sure yo drink at least a glass og vegetable juice before breakfast every morning as vegetable juices are rich in enzymes that not only brings glow but also helps in digestion of food.induction of fibers in diet helps you to get full,get rid of carbs and bloating.

2.IDENTIFY YOUR FEELINGS:Any feeling for chocolates,high calorie ask yourself are you really hungry,if you know identify it cold be due to anger,loneliness then solve the problem you can call a friend and divert it so that you can avoid high calorie intake.

3. MAINTAIN FOOD ANDMOOD DIARY: Maintain written records of what you eat as it makes you aware of your eating habits.
4. CHANGE COMFORT FOODS: If you like chocolates go for low calorie hot chocolate drink, similarly applies for diet cold drinks.go for roasted products rather than fried products.

5. BE ALCOHOL AWARE: A glass of red wine is good but not a bottle. Alcohol makes you hungrier and it becomes difficult to burn the calories.
6. REGULAR PHYSICAL EXERCISE: Do regular exercise and tune up your body. A brisk walk in the morning for 45 minutes or some workouts can do wonders.


7. DRUGS AVAILABLE: Consult your physician before taking drugs as these are taken when BMI >/= 30kg/ msquare. Drugs available: sibutramine, orlistat, rimoabant etc.

8 SURGERY: W hen BMI >/= 35 TO 40 kg/msquare.surgery done is known as bariatric surgery.

Quit smoking: Many people smoke to mitigate their frustrations. Does smoking help them – the answer is a big NO. Smoking is dangerous to health and once should avoid smoking. People who smoke must know the bad effects of it — some bad effects include cancer, TB, weight loss, heart attack, etc. Just take a vow today not to touch the cigarette and accept it as a challenge and win this challenge – at the end of the day, you will definitely be happy and proud of yourself.

Drink fresh water: Our body cell contains 70 per cent water and therefore, to maintain that composition, your body needs ample amount of water. Drink at least 10 – 12 glass of water daily. This practice will help regulate the body metabolism active and in tune. It will also help expel all the waste and harmful chemicals from the body.

Eat healthy food: Eating is directly related to your health – what and when you eat is important. Eat green veggies, fruits, eggs, fish, and dry fruits. Do not skip your breakfast – you should at least take something in the morning to start your daily body metabolism. Take carbohydrate rich diet only in the afternoon and eat protein and vitamin rich diet at night.

Daily physical exercise: In order to keep the body fit and strong – daily exercise is a must. Take a brisk walk in the morning or evening to warm up your body. Do not compromise with your breakfast: Breakfast is a must no matter what quantity you eat. In order to work the body metabolism properly, morning breakfast is very important. If you don’t have much time, you can boil eggs, eat bread or fruits. Eating breakfast daily on time will really help increase your body metabolism.

Take meals at regular intervals: It is advised that one should take at least 5 meals in a day including your regular breakfast, lunch and dinner.
